The team at Kajak.mk often says that no story is easy and that no success happens overnight. Behind every realized dream lie hard work, patience, and a deep love for what one does. Success is not measured solely by location, but by the heart we invest and the perseverance to keep going—even when the journey is long and challenging. For us, Macedonia today does not end at its physical borders; it lives wherever the aroma of Macedonian cuisine continues to spread.

Today, we bring you the story of Daniel Petrovski from Valandovo, born in this town in southern Macedonia, who continues both his life and professional journey in Germany. He is building his future in the city of Hanau, where, through his own restaurant, he shares his passion for Macedonian and Balkan cuisine far from Macedonia.
Daniel moved to Germany in 2017. From the very beginning, as he says himself, he carried a clear idea—to open a restaurant that would serve authentic homemade Macedonian food, prepared according to traditional recipes. The road to this dream was anything but easy. Years were spent searching for the right location, handling documentation, securing finances, and facing the many challenges that come with life abroad. In the end, faith and persistence prevailed.

The result of that journey today proudly bears the name Scala Coffee & Restaurant—a place that is much more than a restaurant. It is a story of home, tradition, and flavor. Located near the center of Hanau, along the Kinzig River, Scala offers a welcoming escape from the fast-paced and often stressful rhythm of everyday life in Germany.
The menu itself is a true journey through Macedonian and Balkan cuisine. Daniel explains that guests can start their day with omelets, traditional pies, and makalo, and continue with fresh salads and dishes that evoke the warmth of a home-cooked family table.

“People from across the Balkans visit our restaurant,” says Daniel, “but lately we’re seeing more and more Germans and guests of other nationalities. They really enjoy Macedonian cuisine and are impressed by our flavor combinations.” For him, this is the greatest proof that authenticity and good taste know no borders.

The reviews speak for themselves—pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, and exceptionally delicious Balkan food.

The story of Daniel Petrovski is proof that dreams can come true, even far from home. Scala Coffee & Restaurant is not just a successful business; it is an ambassador of Macedonian culture in Germany—a place where Macedonia can be felt, tasted, and truly lived.
