Discover an authentic olive oil tasting experience in Macedonia, inspired by Mediterranean traditions that modern travelers actively seek. This exclusive one-day tour by Kajak.mk offers a unique blend of nature, gastronomy, education, and local culture, making it ideal for both international and domestic visitors who want genuine, off-the-beaten-path experiences beyond mass tourism.

Perfect for couples, families, small groups, retirees, teams, and lovers of gastronomy and nature, this tour shows why Macedonia is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for premium extra virgin olive oil, thanks to its Mediterranean climate and fertile southern region.
Southern Macedonia enjoys a Mediterranean microclimate comparable to regions such as Tuscany and Puglia, which makes it ideal for olive growing and the production of high-quality cold-pressed olive oil. Here, olive oil is not produced industrially, but with care, tradition, and respect for nature.
The experience takes place in the village of Pirava, near the town of Valandovo, in a peaceful rural setting where time slows down and flavors turn into lasting memories.

Guests enjoy a guided walk through 800 olive trees spread across 20,000 square meters. The walk from the production facility to the olive grove takes around 20 minutes and offers a relaxing and authentic experience through Macedonia’s rural landscape.
During the olive grove visit and educational presentation, which lasts 30 to 45 minutes, guests learn about different olive varieties, olive tree cultivation and maintenance, harvesting methods, and the influence of climate on olive oil quality. This part of the tour delivers a true agro-tourism experience similar to premium food and farm tours sought by travelers worldwide.
The visit to the production facility lasts 15 to 20 minutes and introduces guests to the cold-pressing process, the journey of the olive from tree to bottle, and the quality and acidity standards that define extra virgin olive oil.

The experience continues with a professionally guided extra virgin olive oil tasting and food pairing lasting 20 to 30 minutes. Guests learn the differences between olive oil types, how to recognize high-quality olive oil, and the basics of proper olive oil tasting. The tasting includes local prosciutto, a selection of cheeses, cherry tomatoes, homemade bread, and premium extra virgin olive oil.
Each guest receives a complimentary gift: a 500 ml bottle of extra virgin olive oil.
The tour is hosted by Sasho, an olive grower and enthusiast whose passion for olives has grown into a lifelong mission. The olive oil is produced exclusively from his own olives and is known for its low acidity, high antioxidant content, rich golden color, and fresh flavor reminiscent of freshly cut grass and hand-picked olives.
This is not just olive oil, but a story of Macedonian soil, spirit, and people.
The total duration of the tour is approximately 90 to 120 minutes.
